A matriculant of Parktown Boys High School and BComm LLB graduate of Wits University, Ronald Katz, known as Ronny to all, is the CEO of Workforce Holdings.
After spending three years completing his articles at a local law firm, Ronny joined City Merchant Bank as an Investment Analyst for one and a half years. Here he learnt valuable lessons in identifying businesses of potential as well as spotting bad investments, skills that would serve him well in the future.
With his new wife, Ronny then moved to Cape Town in 1968. It was a busy year in the Mother City as he and his wife welcome their first child into their family while Ronny simultaneously completed his MBA through the University of Cape Town.
Returning home to Johannesburg, Ronny soon returned to the field of law when he purchased the legal practice of David Borkum. A co-tenant in his office block soon introduced him to the notion of outsourced artisan talent, a model popular in Europe but not yet fully realized in South Africa. Ronny was approached to take an interest in a possible partnership business, but when his potential business partner made the choice to return to England, he was left to pursue matters by himself.
And so, in 1972, Workforce Holdings was founded by Ronny and he has been responsible for its growth and development ever since. In October 2006, Ronny was appointed Executive Chairman of Workforce Holdings Limited and remains our CEO. When not busy at Head Office, Ronny enjoys frequent long-distance runs, casts his reel on fishing trips, photographs sightings at game reserves, and spends quality time with his beloved family.
