David graduated from the University of Cape Town after completing his B.Comm and LLB degrees. He moved to Johannesburg to do his legal articles at Edward Nathan Attorneys (now ENS), after which he was admitted as an attorney in 1994.

After articles, David began his career in corporate finance after joining HSBC. Four years later, he joined Mettle, a niche financial services business and moved back to Cape Town to run its corporate finance department. After Mettle, David briefly ran an internet start-up company providing internet-based auction technology, which was revolutionary at that time. He experienced the bursting of the internet startup bubble first-hand.

In 2000, David moved back to Johannesburg to join Kagiso, a highly respected B-BBEE group and joined the board of its private equity business, Kagiso Ventures. During his five years at Kagiso, he did a number of substantial B-BBEE driven investments, the last of which was an investment into Macsteel. As part of his functions, David sat on the Investment Committee of Kagiso and a number of boards of listed and unlisted companies.

After leaving Kagiso, David was approached to join Macsteel and was appointed as one of three Executive Directors on the main board. He left Macsteel after 9 years and joined Force Holdings in 2016.
David’s primary role is to create value at Force Holdings, either through his participation at portfolio company level, especially Workforce, or through the investment into new opportunities offering superior value creation propositions.

He is a happily married father of four children and spends as much family time as possible at the Vaal River. He has a passion for travel and good food and coffee and is not averse to a good whiskey. David is a fanatical Liverpool supporter and hater of all things Manchester.

David is deeply involved in community matters and has served on the South African Board of Jewish Education for the past nine years and is currently the Deputy Chairman of that board.
